City of Rodez

Rodez or Segodonum in antiquity is a city with a rich past. While strolling in its streets you will discover the diversity of its buildings, reflections of its history. From the wealthy 11th century residences to the facades of Art Deco style architecture, walking around Rodez is a real pleasure for the eyes.

Be amazed by the architecture of the “Armagnac” house, mixing Gothic and Renaissance styles. But also by the Jouéry hotel which now houses the Fenaille museum, where you can learn more about the history of Rouergue. Admirable among all, the pink sandstone Cathedral of Rodez will open its doors to you for the ascent of its bell tower, the highest flat bell tower in France. Your efforts will be amply rewarded by the discovery of the terraces offering a magnificent panorama of the city.

Nestled in the heart of a magnificent garden ideal for walking, take a detour to the Soulages museum which will tell you the story of the local artist through his works. Temporary exhibitions will also be on offer.

Rodez is an exceptional place for history buffs, but nature lovers will not be left out either, since no less than 8 hikes await you on the outskirts of the town. Those who wish to take advantage of the great outdoors without getting exhausted can stroll along the banks of the Aveyron.
